The Bucharest office employs a large number of highly-specialised fee-earners, four of whom are partners. The Managing Partner is Daniel Badea supported by the other partners: Nadia Badea, Madalina Rachieru and Ioana Talnaru.

The office is ranked in the first tier of law firms in Romania for banking, finance and capital markets in the most recent editions of Legal500, Chambers & Partners and IFLR1000. It also has a strong corporate and M&A practice ranked Tier 1 by IFLR1000, and Tier 2 by Chambers & Partners and Legal500. The IFLR1000 directory also ranks the law firm as Tier 1 for Project Finance and has awarded Clifford Chance Badea with the National Law Firm of the Year in Romania Award, for two years in a row at the IFLR's 2014 and, respectively, 2015 Europe Awards.

Managing Partner Daniel Badea is recognised as an eminent practitioner and is described as "a prominent figure in the Romanian finance market thanks to his expertise in the field, with notable experience of international transactions" by Chambers & Partners.

"There is nothing that this team could do better", according to sources quoted by Chambers & Partners, while Legal 500 notes that "no other firm in Romania comes close to this level of professionalism".

Clifford Chance Badea combines the local expertise of a top-tier Romanian practice with the in-depth regional and global focus of one of the world’s leading law firms.

Clifford Chance Badea established a strong reputation as a provider of high-quality legal advice, with an emphasis on finance and corporate law.

Clifford Chance Badea has been actively working on deals that created new ways of financing commercial transactions in Romania - including equity and capital markets issues, and complex finance solutions in the infrastructure sectors that combined international and local "best practices".

Our team in Bucharest is experienced in complex cross-border transactions, and offers organisations who are new to doing business here greater understanding of the cultural differences between Romania and other European jurisdictions.

We thrive on professionally challenging work and have provided advice on some of the country's first and largest 'big ticket' deals, including:

  • Domestic corporate bonds issues
  • Dual IPO and GDR issues
  • Infrastructure projects
  • Leveraged buy-outs
  • Real estate transactions
  • Sovereign Eurobonds

Enhancing Romania’s market standards is as important to us as it is to our clients. We play an active role in the business community, investing time in developing legal frameworks and creating new products.

We helped draft the local legal framework for securities; to prepare new laws on mortgage finance, mortgage bonds and securitisation; and to establish 'best practice' in syndicated loan documentation and derivative master agreements.
