Clifford Chance Academy

At Clifford Chance, we embrace a learning culture, where individuals are supported in their pursuit of opportunities for their professional and personal development. The Clifford Chance Academy provides classroom and online training for all of our people. The Academy offers a wide range of classroom and online legal and business skills training to lawyers and business services staff of all levels of experience. We are focused on aligning our learning and development programmes with our vision and strategy. This means regularly reviewing the full suite of programmes currently provided, including technical, commercial and soft skills development to ensure they support the firm's priorities.

Our courses help our people develop consistently excellent legal, business and commercial skills, which will assist us as firm in meeting our goals, and be of life-long benefit to the individuals who participate in them. Courses are highly interactive and practical, delivered by expert trainers and specifically tailored to Clifford Chance.

We attach great importance to high-quality technical training for our lawyers, but our legal perspectives must be married with a sharp business focus. This depends on developing stronger understanding of clients' operating environments, so we have expanded programmes that support relationship-building, business development, management and sector focus workshops.

Secondment opportunities

Many of our associates have the opportunity to spend time on secondment at one of our international offices or at one of our clients.

Secondments allow you to gain valuable experiences and share working life with overseas colleagues or clients, thereby deepening relationships and strengthening bonds. You will be involved in their everyday work and discover either the elements of working in another jurisdiction or life as a client. It is an extremely rich experience that will bring you the inside view on how we develop local expertise and international standards; moreover in the case of international secondments, it is the chance to spend time in another country

Secondment opportunities for associates

European Secondment Exchange Programme

Across our European offices we have a rich culture, with various opportunities for collaboration. Our market leading European capability gives clients access to the local knowledge of a top-tier national firm, with the cross-border resources of an international network. We value our global reach and range of resources across five continents; our European secondment exchange programme offers associates the chance to drive collaboration across markets, practice areas, regions and countries. We aim to build agile teams with the skills, capabilities and mindset to win and confidently deliver complex mandates with the world's leading businesses. 

Available to junior to mid-level associates in Europe (including London) who would like to take a short-term secondment (four-month maximum) to another European office.

Antitrust Secondment Exchange Programme

We have a global network of over 160 antitrust lawyers covers all the key hubs of Europe, Asia-Pacific and the US. Our antitrust secondment exchange programme offers associates the chance to drive collaboration across markets, practice areas, regions and countries. We aim to build agile teams with the skills, capabilities, and mindset to win and confidently deliver complex mandates with the world's leading businesses. Our antitrust teams work together to solve global antitrust issues, taking into account the interplay between different practices and rules, and always mindful of the practical implications antitrust issues may have on our clients' business.

Available to our Antitrust associates who would like to take a short-term secondment (six-month maximum) to another office.

Technology Secondment Exchange Programme

Our technology teams create new digital solutions to deliver our legal services in different and innovative ways. Technology sets us apart in transforming legal service delivery. Engaging with our clients and business partners, we creatively combine our core technology solutions with flexible application to deliver efficiencies. We value our global reach and range of resources across five continents; our technology secondment exchange programme offers associates the chance to drive collaboration across markets, regions and countries. We aim to build agile teams with the skills, capabilities and mindset to win and confidently deliver complex mandates with the world's leading businesses.

Available to associates with an interest in Tech law, with a minimum of two years qualification experience, who would like to take a short-term secondment (six months maximum) to another office.
