New EU Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act: the Commission's proposals and what they could mean for you

European Perspectives: Tech Series - 15:00 - 16:15 CET - Thursday 14 January, 2021

Antitrust Media & Entertainment Tech 4 December 2020

The European Commission is set to publish proposals for new tech legislation on 9 December 2020. This will be the first major overhaul of EU rules for online actors for two decades. Join us to find out what is proposed, who is affected and what happens next.

Change is afoot in the regulation of the digital sector in Europe. We are expecting the European Commission to propose a new Digital Services Act that will update the 20 year old e-Commerce Directive, and a new Digital Markets Act that will introduce new rules for digital gatekeepers and new antitrust enforcement powers applicable in the digital sector.

We would like to invite you to join us on Thursday 14 January for a webinar with some of our top European antitrust, tech and public policy experts from across the Clifford Chance network.

During the webinar we will share our thoughts on:

  • What is covered in the proposals (and what is not)?
  • What is the scope - who is in and who is out?
  • What could this mean for businesses?
  • Liability and enforcement - sanctions, remedies, due process
  • What happens next: how will the European Parliament and Member States react?
