Clifford Chance advises Legal & General on US$2.3 billion sale of its US protection and pension risk transfer businesses to Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company

Global law firm Clifford Chance advised Legal & General, a British multinational financial services and asset management company headquartered in London, on the sale of its US protection and pension risk transfer businesses to Meiji Yasuda Life Insurance Company at an equity value of US$2.3 billion. This transaction completes the sale of the US insurance entities and establishes a long-term partnership with Meiji Yasuda, strengthening the Group’s US PRT proposition.

The cross-border, multi-practice team was led by the Co-Heads of the US Insurance practice Dennis Manfredi and Joe Cosentino, Corporate counsel Christine Kim, Funds partner Jeff LeMaster, Insurance Regulatory counsel Eugene Benger, partners Anthony Oldfield and David Pudge with support from Insurance associate Elliott Schreffler.
