Clifford Chance advises BlackRock and Silver Point Finance on US$350 million private debt financing for InfraBuild

New York: Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised BlackRock and Silver Point Finance in connection with a US$350 million asset-based term loan facility for InfraBuild, Australia’s largest fully vertically-integrated steel manufacturer, processor and distributor. The proceeds of the loan will support InfraBuild’s growth strategy and operational needs, including its potential acquisition of steel assets in the United States currently owned by GFG Alliance.

Partners Andrew Young in New York and Mark Gillgren in Australia led the cross-border team that advised on the highly complex financing transaction.

Young said, "We leveraged our industry expertise and global network to guide the lenders through the sheer complexity of this significant debt investment. We were delighted to be part of this important transaction for InfraBuild and, at the same time, demonstrate our premier private credit capabilities for the financial investor community.”

Gillgren said, “This high-profile deal provided us with the opportunity to showcase our deep expertise in asset-based and structured loan products and our seamless international client services."

In addition to Young and Gillgren, the core financing team included associates Thomas McGowan and Thomas Gawel in New York, senior associates Nicholas Henneberry and Rubin Trehan, and associate Caitlin Divani in Australia. The wider multi-practice, multi-jurisdiction Clifford Chance team included:

  • Financial markets: partners Michelle McGreal (US), Maggie Lo (Hong Kong) and Irena Floras-Goode (Poland), senior associate Chit Kwong (Hong Kong), associates Jared Quinn (US) and Agnes Tse (Hong Kong) and advocate trainee Aleksander Smakosz (Poland)
  • Litigation: partners Megan Gordon (US), Michael Lyons and Christopher David (UK) and counsel Catherine Ennis (US)
  • Tax: partner Avrohom Gelber and associate Callum Burnett (US)

This transaction continues Clifford Chance's long-standing service to financial investors in private debt transactions, including advising BlackRock on a US$150 million term loan facility for Puttshack.
