Clifford Chance advises alterDomus on strategic acquisitions into US markets

New York: Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised alterDomus, a global provider of fund administration, debt capital markets and corporate services backed by the Permira funds, on a series of strategic acquisitions which were executed in Q4 2020.

The firm advised alterDomus on its acquisition of Strata Fund Solutions, a leading fund administrator serving US private equity and venture capital funds, on the acquisition of Boston-based private equity and venture capital fund administrator IPS Fund Services, and on its purchase of Credit Vision - a UK-based data and analytics platform for corporate credit investors. The cumulation of these investments resulting in alterDomus becoming one of the top three largest private asset services providers for US alternative asset managers, with more than US$1 trillion in global assets under administration.

The team advising on these mandates was co-led by the alterDomus Global Relationship team, led by Christopher Sullivan (London) and Neil Barlow (New York) together with Kevin Lehpamer (New York).

Clifford Chance has a longstanding history of partnering with alterDomus, notably advising on the strategic combination between alterDomus and the Permira funds in 2017, and on helping to deliver alterDomus' cross-border M&A strategy, including by the firm advising on the alterDomus acquisition of Cortland Capital Market Services, a leading US-based investment servicing company, in 2018.

Barlow says, “alterDomus is executing on its strategic growth with a focus on North America – given our long term relationship and domestic US capability we are delighted to partner with them on their strategic objectives across the globe, most recently out of New York. Traveling with our clients across geographies and executing on their ambitions is a natural fit for us and we are thrilled to have supported aD on three deals in Q4 ‘20.”

Sullivan offers, “alterDomus is a longstanding client of the firm and we are privileged to be trusted to deliver on their strategic objectives in the US. We wish alterDomus huge congratulations on executing their ambitious series of deals during Q4 ‘20.”

alterDomus has expanded its US operations rapidly in recent years to meet growing client demand. Following these latest acquisitions, alterDomus expects to generate close to 40% of global revenues in the fast-growing US market with over 900 industry professionals.
