Clifford Chance advises Helmholtz Zentrum München on the sale of its personal radiation dosimeter facility to Mirion Technologies
Clifford Chance has advised Helmholtz Zentrum München on the sale and privatisation of its personal radiation dosimeter facility. Mirion Technologies will take over the running of the facility as of 1 April 2020.
Clifford Chance advised Helmholtz Zentrum München on all aspects of the sale and the structured tendering process, dealings with public authorities and the separation of the facility. Mirion Technologies, which is a global leader in the provision of dosimeter services and the largest manufacturer of radiation measurement and detection technologies worldwide, won the tender.
Helmholtz Zentrum München is the German research centre for environmental health. The approximately 45 employees at the Personal Radiation Dosimeter facility are responsible for monitoring and supporting around 175,000 people in the German states of Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg, Hesse, Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein who are exposed to radiation at work. As an official measurement facility, its role includes calculating personal radiation doses and ensuring that thresholds are not exceeded. It is the largest measurement facility in Europe, calculating around 1.8 million doses annually.

Clifford Chance berät Helmholtz Zentrum München bei Verkauf der Auswertungsstelle für Strahlendosimetrie an Mirion Technologies
Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat das Helmholtz Zentrum München bei der Veräußerung und Privatisierung der Auswertungsstelle für Strahlendosimetrie (AWST) beraten. Mit Wirkung zum 1. April 2020 geht der Betrieb der AWST an Mirion Technologies über.
Clifford Chance hat das Helmholtz Zentrum München umfassend in allen rechtlichen Belangen im Rahmen der Veräußerung und des strukturierten Bieterprozesses, der Abstimmung mit öffentlichen Behörden sowie der Separierung der Auswertungsstelle beraten. Nach Durchführung eines Bieterverfahrens erhielt Mirion Technologies den Zuschlag. Mirion ist eines der weltweit führenden Unternehmen im Bereich der Dosimetrie-Dienstleistungen und zugleich der global größte Hersteller von Kernstrahlungsmesstechnik.
Das Helmholtz Zentrum München ist das deutsche Forschungszentrum für Gesundheit und Umwelt. Die circa 45 Mitarbeiter der AWST betreuen rund 175.000 beruflich strahlenexponierte Personen in den Bundesländern Bayern, Baden-Württemberg, Hessen, Hamburg und Schleswig-Holstein. Als amtlich bestimmte Messstelle ist die AWST unter anderem für die Ermittlung der Personendosis und die Kontrolle der Einhaltung von Grenzwerten verantwortlich. Mit rund 1,8 Millionen ermittelten Dosen pro Jahr ist sie die größte Messstelle Europas.
