Clifford Chance advises La Caisse on acquisition of Edify Energy, marking its entry into Australia
Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised global investment group La Caisse on its acquisition of Edify Energy, Australia’s leading renewable energy development and storage investment company. This deal marks La Caisse's entry into the Australian renewables sector.
Philip Podzebenko, lead partner said:
"We're delighted to have advised La Caisse on this acquisition, which represents a resounding vote of confidence in Australian greenfield infrastructure assets and a strong desire to help facilitate and accelerate the green energy transition and achieve Australia's ambitious net zero targets."
"This transaction will provide a significant amount of the funding required to finance two ready-to-build integrated solar and battery energy storage hybrid project systems for offtake partners, Rio Tinto and the Commonwealth of Australia."
Lead partner Philip Podzebenko was supported by counsel John Karantonis, senior associates Benedict Waterfall and Isabelle Cameron, and associates Henry Garing and Siena Casgrain.
Partner Matthew Buchanan advised on projects-related aspects, assisted by senior associate James Thornton and associate Andreena Kardamis.
Senior associate Japonica Sheridan and associate Thomas Prestwidge provided real estate support, while partner Elizabeth Richmond led on regulatory matters, supported by counsel Ryan Draper, senior associate Lisa Jiang, and associate Nicholas Tzortzis.
This transaction continues Clifford Chance's long-standing work for La Caisse, including advising on its successful investment in Yondr Group, a global leader in hyperscale data.
