Clifford Chance advises BlackRock on $12 billion acquisition of HPS Investment Partners
Global law firm Clifford Chance is advising BlackRock on its acquisition of HPS Investment Partners, a leading global credit investment manager with approximately $148 billion in client assets, for approximately $12 billion, to be paid entirely in BlackRock equity. This acquisition aligns with BlackRock's long-term growth strategy, emphasising its commitment to providing comprehensive asset management and technology solutions across public and private markets.
The Clifford Chance cross-practice area team includes the antitrust and foreign investment team led by Jennifer Storey and Stavroula Vryna in London and Dimitri Slobodenjuk in Düsseldorf, supported by a cross-border team including Nivi Balaji, Georgios Yannouchos, Johannes Lüer and Carmen Puscas. UK employment partner Alistair Woodland and director Amy Bird, incentives partner Andrew Patterson and director Juliette Graham, and pensions senior associate Rebecca Trapp worked in partnership with the BlackRock team on the EMEA employee elements of the acquisition (collaborating with Clifford Chance colleagues and local counsel across EMEA).
Clifford Chance's role follows on the back of its role advising BlackRock on its $12.5 billion acquisition of Global Infrastructure Partners which completed earlier this year.
