Clifford Chance appoints three new senior counsel and eight new counsel in Germany

Clifford Chance has appointed eleven German lawyers as counsel/senior counsel from the start of its new fiscal year on 1 May 2023.

The firm has a challenging process in place for appointing people to these roles. Since the 2021/2022 fiscal year, Clifford has streamlined its appointments procedure across Europe, making the roles and career milestones more attractive and high-profile. In the Continental Europe region, a total of twelve new senior counsel and 39 new counsel were appointed this year.
The new senior counsel and counsel in Germany are:

Senior counsel

Peter Burckhardt (Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Frankfurt) specialises in litigation in civil-law disputes, with a focus on court proceedings involving the state. In particular, he represents clients in contractual disputes and officers' liability cases and has many years of experience in insolvency matters.
Kerstin Schaepersmann (Global Financial Markets, Frankfurt) specialises in German and European banking and capital markets law, with a focus on issues of banking supervision and the regulation of derivatives and financial market infrastructure providers. In structured financing she particularly advises on synthetic and cash flow securitisation and, in connection with other risk transfer transactions, on equity management for banks.
Alexandra Margarete Uhl (Global Financial Markets/Funds & Investment Management, Frankfurt) advises domestic and foreign investors, investment and insurance firms, for example on structuring, selling and divesting special and closed-end funds in the areas of real estate and private equity for institutional clients. She also advises on regulatory aspects of authorisation procedures for capital management companies and investment firms.

Counsel

Amrei Fuder (Real Estate, Frankfurt) is an expert for real estate and environmental law, including regulations on residual pollution, and works at the interface between public and civil law. In particular, she advises clients from the chemical industry and logistics sector on property-related and environmental issues relating to M&A deals.
Philip Heinzel (Real Estate, Dusseldorf) advises domestic and foreign clients on all aspects of real estate, especially the purchase and sale of properties, portfolio transactions and commercial leases. His clients include asset manager, funds, institutional investors and family offices.
Sunny Kapoor (Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Frankfurt) specialises in litigation before state courts and arbitral tribunals. He represents clients in complex, cross-border and domestic proceedings, notably in banking and finance as well as in connection with ESG issues and contractual matters.
Jason London (Global Financial Markets, Frankfurt) works on Clifford Chance's global Energy and Infrastructure team from Germany and Continental Europe. He advises financial institutions, sponsors and companies on a broad range of global energy and infrastructure projects in developed and emerging markets.
Georg Lübbehüsen (Global Financial Markets, Frankfurt) advises financial investors, financial institutions and companies on structured and syndicated financing, with a focus on infrastructure, real estate, renewable energies and resources. He works primarily on real estate finance, infrastructure financing, corporate and sustainability-linked finance as well as restructuring.
Zaid Mansour (Corporate/Energy, Dusseldorf) specialises in advising on infrastructure and energy projects and regulatory issues. One particular focus of his work is on advising on M&A deals and project finance as well as in administrative and court proceedings in the energy and infrastructure sector. He also works on public law matters.
Ulrich A. Pfeffer (Antitrust, Dusseldorf) advises domestic and global clients on all aspects of German and European antitrust law, particularly in connection with merger control, misconduct proceedings and distribution agreements. He also advises on foreign trade law issues.
Maria-Franziska Röntsch (Corporate/Private Equity, Frankfurt) advises private equity investors and strategic investors on domestic and global transactions, including management buy-outs, leveraged buy-outs, the acquisition and sales of companies, management participations, restructuring, joint ventures and in general corporate matters.

Clifford Chance ernennt in Deutschland drei neue Senior Counsel und acht neue Counsel

Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat zum neuen Geschäftsjahr ab 1. Mai 2023 insgesamt elf ihrer deutschen Anwältinnen und Anwälte zum Senior Counsel bzw. Counsel ernannt.

Der Ernennung zum Senior Counsel und Counsel bei Clifford Chance geht ein anspruchsvoller Prozess voraus. Seit dem Geschäftsjahr 2021/2022 stimmt die Sozietät die Ernennung europaweit ab, wodurch die Rollen und Karriere-Meilensteine noch attraktiver und visibler gestaltet wurden. In der Region Kontinentaleuropa wurden in diesem Jahr insgesamt zwölf neue Senior Counsel sowie 39 neue Counsel ernannt.

Senior Counsel

Dr. Peter Burckhardt (Litigation & Dispute Resolution, Frankfurt) ist auf Prozessführung in zivilrechtlichen Streitigkeiten mit besonderem Schwerpunkt auf staatliche Gerichtsverfahren spezialisiert. Er vertritt Mandanten insbesondere bei Vertragsstreitigkeiten und in Organhaftungsfällen und ist seit vielen Jahren mit einem Schwerpunkt auf insolvenzrechtlichen Streitigkeiten tätig.
Kerstin Schaepersmann (Global Financial Markets, Frankfurt) ist auf deutsches und europäisches Bank- und Kapitalmarktrecht spezialisiert, mit Schwerpunkt auf finanzaufsichtsrechtliche Fragen sowie die Regulierung von Derivaten und Finanzmarktinfrastrukturanbietern. Im Bereich der strukturierten Finanzierung berät sie insbesondere bei synthetischen und cashflow Verbriefungen sowie bei anderen Risikotransfertransaktionen zum Eigenkapitalmanagement von Banken.
Dr. Alexandra Margarete Uhl (Global Financial Markets/Funds & Investmentmanagement, Frankfurt) berät in- und ausländische Investoren, Investment- und Versicherungsgesellschaften bei der Strukturierung, dem Vertrieb sowie der Ausinvestition von insbesondere Spezial- und geschlossenen Fonds in den Bereichen Real Estate und Private Equity für institutionelle Kunden. Ferner berät sie zu investment- und bankaufsichtsrechtlichen Aspekten bei Erlaubnisverfahren von Kapitalverwaltungsgesellschaften und Wertpapierinstituten.

Counsel

Amrei Fuder (Real Estate, Frankfurt) verfügt über Expertise im Immobilien- und Umweltrecht, einschließlich dem Altlastenrecht und arbeitet an der Schnittstelle zwischen öffentlichem und Zivilrecht. Sie berät insbesondere Mandanten aus der chemischen Industrie sowie der Logistikbranche im Rahmen von M&A-Transaktionen zu grundstücksbezogenen sowie umweltrechtlichen Themen.
