Clifford Chance advises Partners Group on its sale of a 20 percent stake in Dutch offshore windfarm Borssele
International law firm Clifford Chance has advised long-standing client Partners Group, a leading global private markets firm, acting on behalf of its clients, on the sale of a 20 percent stake in the Dutch offshore windfarm Borssele III / IV (or "Borssele") to Swiss Life Asset Managers on behalf of its investors.
Borssele is a fully operational offshore windfarm comprised of 77 turbines which began operations in 2021. The windfarm is designed to generate 3,000 GWh of energy annually, which is enough to power approximately 825,000 Dutch households. Partners Group invested in Borssele in June 2018 as part of its thematic approach to investing in infrastructure assets that benefit from decarbonization trends.
The multi-practice, cross office team was comprised of the London M&A team led by Charlotte Madden and Spencer Baylin with support from Ciarán Cronin, Claudia Carr, and Caitlin Hagart. Antitrust and Foreign Direct Investment support was provided by Jenny Storey, Sue Hinchcliffe and Anna Zanazzo. Liesbeth Buiter led the Amsterdam team and was supported by Julia van Heusden, Luc van Oosterhout, Philip Walsh, Polly Huls, Michiel Sunderman, Alec Sanderson and Lauresse Anemaet.
