Clifford Chance advises AGP on Stonepeak’s strategic investment in its portfolio of sustainable real assets
Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised AGP Sustainable Real Assets (AGP) on Stonepeak’s strategic investment into AGP. Headquartered in APAC, AGP is a leading global developer and operator of real assets and projects aimed at building a sustainable and net-zero emissions future. The investment from Stonepeak will accelerate the expansion of AGP's portfolio of renewable energy, social housing and logistics assets. Completion is subject to customary conditions.
Ben Salmon, AGP founding partner, said, "Our strategic partnership with Stonepeak is pivotal in helping us reach our goal of seamlessly integrating energy and community infrastructure and developing innovative sustainable solutions that accelerates the transition to a net zero future. Clifford Chance's deep sector expertise and integrated cross-border team played a key role in helping us achieve this important milestone for our business."
Clifford Chance's cross-border team was co-led by partners Mark Currell and Tom Lin, with a core deal team of counsel John Karantonis and Jervis Chan, senior associates Victor Leung and David Ho, associates Rob Colemeadow, Joshua Yan and Josephine Tang, and law graduate Kate Procter.
Mark Currell said, “This transaction highlights the increased investor interest in sustainable infrastructure and energy assets. We are honoured to support AGP on this landmark transaction and wish AGP and Stonepeak a successful future ahead.”
AGP is presently developing, constructing, delivering or operating globally an aggregate portfolio of over 12GW of renewable energy assets, 5msqft of modern logistics warehousing, 310MW of data centre capacity, and 20msqft of community housing.
Clifford Chance regularly advises on M&A involving energy transition and infrastructure real assets in Asia Pacific, including the Elanora Consortium on the 5GW offshore wind farm project in Australia, ACEN on its partnership with BrightNight for the development of renewable energy projects in India, and Partners Group on the sale of CWP Renewables in Australia, which is the largest renewable energy deal to date in the Australian market.
