Clifford Chance advises Nordrheinische Ärzteversorgung together with Prime Capital AG on the development of 254 MW onshore wind farm Stavro in Sweden

International law firm Clifford Chance has advised an investment vehicle of German pension fund Nordrheinische Ärzteversorgung managed by Prime Capital AG on the investment in and financing of Swedish onshore wind farm Stavro. The project has been structured, developed, and commercialized by Prime Capital AG on behalf of and in close collaboration with an international investor consortium consisting of Nordrheinische Ärzteversorgung, South Korean institutional and industrial investors, and Siemens Financial Services. The project financing (partly backed by KfW) is provided by DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale. The wind farm reached financial close in the first week of November.

Stavro is located in northern Sweden, comprises 62 turbines, and will produce electricity with a capacity of approximately 254  when it is commissioned in October 2021. The energy produced will be used by the Google data center in Hamina (Finland) and by the Swedish Holmen Group in order to further increase the use of renewable energy. Planned lifetime of the wind farm is 25 years.

Clifford Chance advised on structuring and formation of the investor consortia, antitrust matters, and the negotiation and implementation of the project financing. Die internationale Anwaltskanzlei Clifford Chance hat ein von Prime Capital AG gemanagtes Investmentvehikel der Nordrheinischen Ärzteversorgung bei der Investition in, und Finanzierung des schwedischen Onshore-Windparks Stavro beraten. Das Projekt wurde von Prime Capital im Auftrag von und in enger Zusammenarbeit mit einem internationalen Investorenkonsortium bestehend aus Nordrheinischer Ärzteversorgung, mehreren südkoreanischen institutionellen und industriellen Investoren sowie Siemens Financial Services strukturiert, entwickelt und vermarktet. Die Projektfinanzierung, die in Teilen von der KfW gesichert wird, stellt die DekaBank Deutsche Girozentrale bereit. Das Projekt erreichte Financial Close in der ersten Novemberwoche.

Der Windpark Stavro liegt in Nordschweden und wird mit 62 Turbinen Elektrizität mit einer Leistung von rund 254 Megawatt produzieren. Die Inbetriebnahme ist für Oktober 2021 geplant. Die produzierte Energie wird vom Google-Rechenzentrum in Hamina (Finnland) sowie vom schwedischen Holmen-Konzern abgenommen, um den Einsatz erneuerbarer Energien weiter zu erhöhen. Die geplante Lebensdauer des Windparks beträgt 25 Jahre.

Clifford Chance beriet zur Investitionsstruktur, der Aufsetzung des Investorenkonsortiums, kartellrechtlichen Fragen sowie zu Verhandlung und Durchführung der Projektfinanzierung.
