Clifford Chance advises bank syndicate on the financing of STEAG's acquisition of two incineration plants
The energy group STEAG GmbH based in Essen has successfully refinanced the acquisition of two incineration plants through external funding. In early/mid-2017 STEAG Waste to Energy GmbH acquired Vattenfall's shares in the plants Thermische Abfallbehandlung Lauta GmbH & Co. oHG and IKW Rüdersdorf GmbH. Clifford Chance provided legal advice to the banks concluding the loan agreement, Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen Girozentrale and KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH.
In 2016, STEAG generated roughly EUR 3.9 billion with around 6,100 employees. The energy supplier bundles its waste-to- energy business in its new subsidiary STEAG Waste to Energy GmbH.

Der Energiekonzern STEAG GmbH mit Sitz in Essen hat mit einer Fremdfinanzierung den Erwerb von zwei Abfallverbrennungsanlagen erfolgreich refinanziert. Anfang/Mitte 2017 hatte die STEAG Waste to Energy GmbH von Vattenfall deren Anteile an den beiden Anlagen Thermische Abfallbehandlung Lauta GmbH & Co. oHG und IKW Rüdersdorf GmbH erworben. Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat die finanzierenden Banken, die Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen Girozentrale und die KfW IPEX-Bank GmbH, beim Abschluss des Kreditvertrages rechtlich beraten.
STEAG setzte 2016 mit rund 6.100 Mitarbeitern etwa 3,9 Milliarden Euro um. Sein Waste-to-Energy-Geschäft bündelt der Energieversorger in der neuen Tochtergesellschaft STEAG Waste to Energy GmbH.
