Clifford Chance advises Partners Group on joint launch of Philippines telecommunications platform
Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised global private markets firm Partners Group, on behalf of its clients, on the joint establishment of a telecommunications infrastructure platform, Unity Digital Infrastructure (Unity), in partnership with Aboitiz InfraCapital of the Aboitiz Group.
Unity will build and operate telecommunications towers in the Philippines, supporting broader transformative trends around digitisation and rising data consumption in a country experiencing strong growth.
Partner Tom Lin and senior associate Ivan Chan (Singapore) led the transaction, supported by partner Richard Blewett (Brussels), senior associate I-Ming Tan (Hong Kong) and associate David Ho (Singapore).
Speaking on the transaction Tom said, "Accelerated digitisation and consumer demand for connectivity has seen rapid growth of the telecommunications sector in the Philippines in recent years. We wish Partners Group and Aboitiz all the best in Unity's rollout of such critical infrastructure, which will no doubt bring broad positive stakeholder impact by increasing access to communications and service quality."
Recent infrastructure transactions on which Clifford Chance has advised leading financial investors include Keppel Infrastructure Trust and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation on the acquisition of Philippine Coastal Storage & Pipeline Corporation and KKR and DTCP on the launch of Open Dutch Fiber and a strategic agreement between Open Dutch Fiber and T-Mobile Netherlands.
