Clifford Chance announces lateral hire of two counsel in Australia

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has announced the lateral hires of Julia Dreosti and Tennie Tam as counsel. Based in Sydney, the two senior appointments bolster the firm's leading Litigation & Dispute Resolution and Corporate teams, respectively.

Julia is a commercial litigator and arbitration practitioner with over 15 years' experience advising clients on the entire spectrum of contentious matters across a wide range of sectors including energy, defence, infrastructure, construction, government and corporates. She is Australian law qualified and holds a Masters in French Law and European Community Law. Julia serves as an Australian representative to the ICC Commission on Arbitration and ADR. She re-joins the firm from Lipman Karas where she was a Principal, having previously worked in the Sydney and Singapore offices of Clifford Chance.

Tennie is senior corporate lawyer with extensive experience in private equity and financial investor M&A gained in both Australia and New York. She has a breadth of skills advising clients in corporate transactions, including acquisitions and divestments of public and private businesses across a broad range of sectors, co-investment and secondary transactions. Tennie joins the firm from Sidley Austin.

Australia Managing Partner Richard Gordon offered, "Our Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice has undergone a period of tremendous growth with our teams across Sydney and Perth assisting clients on some of the highest profile commercial litigation, regulatory investigations and arbitration matters in the market. Julia returns to our firm, having previously worked with us in Sydney and Singapore, and brings a wealth of experience leading high-stakes contentious matters both within Australia and in the broader Asia Pacific region. She will make an excellent addition to our senior bench."

"Our Corporate practice is experiencing strong growth, particularly in advising financial investors, and Tennie's strong skillset and experience advising these types of clients across the full gamut of corporate transactions makes her a fantastic addition to our Australian practice. Tennie's vast network and experience will mean she will be readily able to assist and provide senior support across our network of offices in the Asia Pacific."

In addition to the appointment of Tennie and Julia, the firm recently announced the lateral hire of leveraged finance partner Elizabeth Hundt Russell from King & Wood Mallesons.
