Clifford Chance adds Private Funds partner David Goldstein
Clifford Chance today announced that David A. Goldstein has joined the Firm's Private Funds Group as a partner.
His practice focuses on the establishment and representation of private investment funds, including both domestic and international private equity and hedge funds. Goldstein joins from DLA Piper, where he has served as global co-head and national co-head of its Investment Funds practice.
Among Goldstein's clients are direct lending and other credit funds, buyout funds, real estate opportunity and value funds, long/short equity funds, and emerging markets funds with management teams located around the world. He advises large, well-established funds and managers based in and outside the US investing in US and non-US markets, as well as first-time funds of high-quality emerging managers. His experience includes helping managers create investment products and platforms, including managed accounts and separate accounts, and he has structured and closed numerous seed and stake deals. Goldstein represents fund sponsors in structuring their asset management and carry vehicles and in establishing governance and compensation arrangements. Goldstein also acts for his fund clients in connection with their portfolio investments and other matters.
"With David's arrival, our US Private Funds team continues to grow along with our clients," said Roger Singer, who heads Clifford Chance's Private Funds & Investment Management group in the Americas. "As our clients continue to mature from initial fund raisings to the establishment of larger, more complex funds, David's reputation and strong relationships will help us unlock opportunities and further expand our capabilities advising fund sponsors. We've known David for many years, and I am delighted that he has decided to join our team."
Guy Norman, global head of Corporate, said, "The US continues to be an important market for fund formation, and David's arrival strengthens our leading Global Funds practice. David's credentials in this area, together with his experience working across a broad range of clients, will further enhance the global offering and capabilities already delivered by our truly collaborative international team. I am very pleased to welcome him aboard."
"I was impressed with Clifford Chance's extraordinary depth of talent and experience in the alternative asset management space," said Goldstein. "I am excited to join the Firm's leading US Private Funds team and reunite with my long-time colleague Victor Levy, who worked alongside me for more than six years before rejoining Clifford Chance. I very much look forward to working with my colleagues throughout the Firm's integrated global platform to help our clients raise and deploy capital across the globe."
