Clifford Chance advises Deník N on pro bono basis

Clifford Chance Prague would like to congratulate the team of Deník N on the official commencement of their activities (which fittingly took place yesterday, on the 100th anniversary of the creation of Czechoslovakia). Deník N is a newly established and fully independent Czech online and printed journal, which aims to be dependent on (and accountable to) only its readers. Deník N consists of 40 experienced journalists and is led by director Ján Simkanič and editor-in-chief Pavel Tomášek. It is well supported by the Endowment Fund of Independent Journalism (Nadační fond nezávislé žurnalistiky) and Denník N, which already proved itself to be a very successful and highly regarded online journal in Slovakia with almost 30 thousand subscribers. Slovak Denník N shares with Deník N its very extensive know how, as well as its branding.

Lawyers of Clifford Chance's Prague office advised Deník N on pro bono basis on setting up of its entire corporate governance structure, which now guarantees a maximum level of independence from its initial investors, Mr Jaroslav Horák, Mrs Silke Horáková, Mr Martin Vohánka, Mr Libor Winkler and Mr Jan Žůrek, who are already known for their philanthropic activities. The Clifford Chance team in Prague was led by partner Emil Holub, with Ludvík Růžička acting as the executive lawyer. The team further comprised of Zuzana Morávková and Jana Zákravská.
