Clifford Chance advises Huaneng Power International on US$730 million share placement

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised Huaneng Power International on its US$730 million placement of new shares. CITIC CLSA Securities was the sole placing agent. Huaneng Power International, tri-listed in New York, Hong Kong and Shanghai, is one of the largest power companies in the world.

The team was co-led by Fang Liu and Virginia Lee who were supported by senior associates Tianning Xiang and Corey Zhang, and associates Stanley Tan and Claire Cao.

Fang said, "We were delighted to assist Huaneng in completing such a significant transaction under challenging market conditions. Our Hong Kong and US teams were well prepared to address the multi-jurisdictional issues that arose as Huaneng is tri-listed."
