Clifford Chance celebrates 20 years in Shanghai

Shanghai: Leading international law firm Clifford Chance will mark the 20th anniversary of its Shanghai office with a celebration for staff and clients on 25 October.

Clifford Chance was one of the first international law firms to receive a license in Shanghai in 1993, following the opening of its Beijing office in 1985.

Over 20 years, the firm's Greater China team has grown to nearly 300 lawyers located in four offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Hong Kong and Singapore, supported by "China desks" established in the firm's offices in other business centers around the world.

Stephen Harder, the firm's China Managing Partner said, "We are proud of how our practice in China has developed during these 20 years of unprecedented growth and accomplishment by the Chinese people, particularly evident in the transformed skyline of this remarkable city of Shanghai."

"In recent years, the main focus of our global China practice has expanded as well, to include not only advice to foreign companies active China, but also to include advising the growing number of Chinese companies as they expand their investor base and their operations outside of China."
