Jason Fry and Simon Greenberg from Clifford Chance co-author the Secretariat's Guide to ICC Arbitration

The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) Secretariat's Guide to ICC Arbitration describes innovations and changes introduced to ICC arbitration in 2012. The guide takes a detailed look at the new ICC rules of Arbitration and their implementation and is intended as a reference work for all those who are involved in the ICC arbitration process, whether they are in-house counsel, counsel or arbitrators.

The work was compiled by three former Members of the Secretariat of the ICC International Court of Arbitration: Jason Fry and Simon Greenberg1, Partner and Counsel respectively at the international law firm Clifford Chance2, along with Francesca Mazza3.

The Guide draws on the authors’ arbitration experience gained through their involvement in the drafting of the new 2012 rules and their in-depth knowledge of the Court’s practices, acquired through their day-to-day work at the Court and its Secretariat.

It provides a 'road map' for users of the ICC’s arbitration services, highlighting the Court’s and Secretariat’s practices and gives practical advice on the best way to conduct proceedings in an efficient manner under the rules. It also provides statistics reflecting trends on numerous aspects of the ICC’s arbitration procedure.

Jason Fry, former Secretary General of the ICC International Court of Arbitration, currently a Partner at Clifford Chance and joint head of the global international arbitration practice says: “The new 2012 ICC rules mark a genuine turning point in ICC arbitration, with new provisions aimed at improving arbitration procedures to make the process more time and cost effective. It should be of significant interest to business, which is increasingly having recourse to arbitration as a means of dispute resolution, especially in emerging markets.”
