U.S. Supreme Court Holds RICO Statute Has Extraterritorial Reach, but Does Not Apply to Injuries Outside the United States

The U.S. Supreme Court has held in RJR Nabisco, Inc. v. The European Community that the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act may apply to conduct that occurs outside the United States, but in a significant move the Court has imposed a “domestic injury” requirement for private civil RICO claims.
