Clifford Chance advises ExxonMobil on its CO2 transportation and storage agreement with AtmosClear

Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised ExxonMobil on its agreement with AtmosClear BR, LLC, a portfolio company of Fidelis, to transport and permanently store up to 680,000 metric tons per annum of biogenic carbon dioxide (CO2) from AtmosClear's biomass energy with carbon capture (BECCS) facility in the Port of Greater Baton Rouge in Louisiana.

This work continues the firm's support of ExxonMobil, with partner Jonathan Castelan leading the Clifford Chance team on all of ExxonMobil's eight announced carbon capture sequestration (CCS) agreements to date.

Castelan says: "We are pleased to continue serving ExxonMobil in the scaling of its CCS system."

Partners Jonathan Castelan and David Stringer led the Clifford Chance team with support from associates Sam Bentley, Melissa Sanchez, and law clerk Julian Pozza.
