Clifford Chance advises Partners Group on sale of Greenlink electricity Interconnector
Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised Partners Group, one of the largest firms in the global private markets industry, acting on behalf of its clients, on the sale of Greenlink Interconnector, a 504 MW subsea electricity interconnector to Baltic Cable AB and Equitix. Connecting Great Britain and Ireland, Greenlink is the first project financed interconnector to be completed in Europe and will have capacity to power around 380,000 homes. The transaction values Greenlink at an enterprise value exceeding €1 billion.
Partners Group initially acquired a controlling stake in Greenlink in 2019, taking full ownership in 2021, and has since overseen the project's progression from construction to commercial operations. Greenlink represents a vital infrastructure initiative that will facilitate the integration of renewable energy sources, enhance grid flexibility, and bolster energy security.
The Clifford Chance team was led by Partner and Global Co-Head of Infrastructure Charlotte Madden, alongside Partner Bryony Theaker, supported by Josephine Stefani, Dolly Aheto-Tsegah, Sam Goh, Crystal Lim, Martin Kolmar, Mark Inkester, Alex Bouwman, Evan Thomson and Erin Hanson. This transaction highlights Clifford Chance's expertise in advising on complex private capital infrastructure projects and delivering practical and innovative solutions to clients across the infrastructure market.
