Clifford Chance is advising the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on the financing of two large solar power projects in Azerbaijan.
The sponsors for these projects are Masdar, a major renewable energy player, and Socar Green, a subsidiary of the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
Financing agreements were signed last week. The total financing package of $480 million includes up to $280 million for the Bilasuvar power plant and up to $200 million for the Neftchala power plant.
The projects, located in the Bilasuvar and Neftchala districts in the Republic of Azerbaijan, will add 760 MW of clean energy capacity once completed. They are expected to offset around 725,000 tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year and will triple the country’s solar energy capacity.

Clifford Chance a conseillé la Banque asiatique de développement (BAD), la Banque asiatique d’investissement dans les infrastructures (BAII) et la Banque européenne pour la reconstruction et le développement (BERD) sur le financement de deux grands projets solaires en Azerbaïdjan.
Les sponsors de ces projets sont Masdar, un acteur majeur des énergies renouvelables, et Socar Green, une filiale de la Société pétrolière d’État de la République d’Azerbaïdjan (SOCAR).
Les accords de financement ont été signés la semaine dernière. Le financement total, d’un montant de 480 millions de dollars, comprend jusqu’à 280 millions de dollars pour la centrale de Bilasuvar et jusqu’à 200 millions de dollars pour la centrale de Neftchala.
Ces projets, situés dans les districts de Bilasuvar et de Neftchala en République d’Azerbaïdjan, ajouteront une capacité de 760 MW d’énergie propre une fois achevés. Ils devraient permettre de réduire les émissions de dioxyde de carbone d’environ 725 000 tonnes par an et tripler la capacité solaire du pays.
