Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised the sponsor consortium of Hapag-Lloyd AG, EUROGATE Group and Contship Italia, and the operating entity Damietta Alliance Container Terminals, in connection with the closing of the US$455 million debt package for the Damietta Container Terminal II port project in Egypt, which will boost economic growth in the region and facilitate further trade across the East Mediterranean market.
The lending syndicate comprised of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the International Finance Corporation, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Deutsche Investitions- und Entwicklungsgesellschaft and Proparco.
This transaction builds upon Clifford Chance's market-leading global infrastructure and developing markets practice.
