Clifford Chance's Simon Gleeson and Simon Tinkler appointed Deputy High Court Judges in England and Wales
Clifford Chance partners Simon Gleeson and Simon Tinkler have been appointed as Deputy High Court Judges in England and Wales. The six-year terms were made on the recommendation of the Judicial Appointments Commission following an open competition and, beginning on 1 October 2021, will see both partners sitting for up to 30 days per year.
Simon Tinkler joined Clifford Chance in 1995, becoming a partner in 2000 and later serving as head of the HR for the London Corporate Practice, and then from 2010-2014 as Head of London Corporate Practice. He specialises in international and UK public and private M&A with a particular focus on private equity transactions. Simon has advised private equity houses, corporates and investment banks on a wide range of matters, including public takeover bids, M&A, IPOs, PIPEs and restructurings. He also sits on the Solicitors Disciplinary Tribunal, the independent body that hears the most serious allegations of misconduct against members of the profession.
Simon Gleeson joined Clifford Chance as a partner in 2007. He specialises in banking and financial markets law and regulation, clearing, settlement and derivatives. He advises governments, regulators and public bodies as well as banks, investment firms, fund managers and other financial institutions on a wide range of regulatory issues. Simon chairs the Institute for International Finance's cross-border resolution committee, has lectured widely, and has been elected a Visiting Fellow of All Souls College Oxford. He has also written a number of books on subjects such as the regulation of banks after the financial crisis, and the legal concept of money.
