Clifford Chance Amsterdam moves back to its office at the Droogbak, after a complete renovation and modernisation
International law firm Clifford Chance announces a move back to its Amsterdam office at the Droogbak on 16 August 2021, after a complete renovation and modernisation of the premises.
‘New’ Droogbak: Where Innovation Meets Heritage
Situated in the very heart of Amsterdam, with its rich history, the Droogbak has been the home of Clifford Chance for over 20 years already. The renovated office is designed to provide a memorable contemporary client experience, while embracing the historical character of the building. The new flexible work environment further strengthens the firm's cross-practice collaboration and allows its multidisciplinary teams to work in an inspiring, future-ready setting.
Titus de Vries, Managing Partner of Clifford Chance Amsterdam: "We are delighted to be moving back to our beloved Droogbak, just ahead of our 50th anniversary in the Netherlands. The new building layout fosters a collaborative work environment with flexible, open working spaces, with the renewed Atrium now acting as the social heart of the building for our colleagues and clients alike. It fits with our inclusive, forward-thinking culture and supports our ambition to be the law firm of choice in the Netherlands for the world's leading businesses and the best talent of today and tomorrow."
Robert Smit, General Manager of Clifford Chance Amsterdam: "At Clifford Chance we put our clients at the heart of everything we do. We are convinced that the 'new' Droogbak, with its state-of-the-art technological infrastructure, will help us service our clients even better, while enabling our employees to thrive in an inspiring work setting. Our new work environment mirrors our commitment to deliver the most innovative legal solutions for our clients' most complex work."
Notes to editors:
- In October 2019, Clifford Chance moved to its temporary office at IJsbaanpad 2, Amsterdam, to allow for the renovation to take place.
- Clifford Chance's choice to renovate its existing building as opposed to a new construction was motivated by its strong commitment to sustainability and to reducing its environmental footprint, opting during the renovation for materials and systems designed to improve the energy performance of the building and to reduce the overall energy consumption.
- After 2.5 years in the Co-Managing Partner role for the Amsterdam office (following an initial stint as Office Managing Partner between 2009 and 2015) Bas Boris Visser stepped down from this role as per 1 August 2021. Bas Boris will continue to focus on his role as Global Head of Innovation and Business Change at Clifford Chance, as well as his client practice. Going forward, besides his client practice, Titus de Vries will continue as the sole Managing Partner of the Clifford Chance Amsterdam office, alongside Robert Smit as General Manager.
