Luis Alonso, new partner in charge of the Corporate / M&A practice area at Clifford Chance Spain
Luis Alonso Díez has been appointed partner in charge of the Corporate / M&A practice area at Clifford Chance Spain.
He replaces Javier García de Enterría in this position, who will continue to collaborate with the Corporate / M&A area of the Firm and will continue to direct, together with other partners, the Firm in its knowledge management and thought leadership strategy.
Luis, who obtained his Law degree from Universidad de Sevilla (2002) and is a Solicitor for England and Wales (2008), has development his professional career almost entirely at Clifford Chance's Madrid and London offices.
Since joining the Firm in 2004, he has advised on the key deals that have been relevant to Spain's economy and internationally in recent years, including the alliance between ACS and Atlantia through its takeover of Abertis, the takeover of the DIA group and the merger between Vía Célere and Aelca, advising Värde Partners. His notable track record has been acknowledged by the foremost legal directories and he has won several individual awards for his work (such as the "Iberian Lawyer Forty-under-40 award" and the "Client Choice Award" for the M&A category).
This past year, Luis has led the Firm in advising on some of the largest M&A deals in the Spanish market, including the sales by ACS of its industrial division to the Vinci group and of its subsidiary Zero-E to the Galp group, as well as advising the Masmovil group on both the takeover bid launched for that company by the consortium comprising the funds KKR, Cinven and Providence and on the recent takeover launched by Masmovil itself, for Euskaltel.
