JUVE Awards 2020: Clifford Chance named Law Firm of the Year for Banking and Finance and Regulated Industries

Clifford Chance was named "Law Firm of the Year for Banking and Finance" and "Law Firm of the Year for Regulated Industries" at the 17th JUVE awards ceremony on Thursday. As the only firm to win two awards this year, Clifford Chance was also the only finalist to be nominated in four categories – alongside Banking and Finance and Regulated Industries, it also received nominations in Compliance and Dispute Resolution.

JUVE praised the extensive expertise and outstanding performance of Clifford Chance's Banking & Capital Markets team and the firm's reputation for providing excellent advice across all banking and finance issues: "Clifford Chance has built up a strong team to advise on equity capital measures, enabling it to play a considerably more important role on the market, especially in terms of IPO advice. The market-leading fund practice and the regulatory team working closely with London are the perfect match. But this year it was mainly the firm's work for the development bank KfW which attracted attention. Clifford Chance corporate finance specialists are providing comprehensive advice to the KfW on state aid packages in the corona crisis. This unique role reflects the firm's outstanding know-now and reputation."

The Energy practice acted on several matters for top bidders – for example on the acquisition of interests in EWE or the takeover of Eneco. […] Be it the corona crisis, the digitalisation of the healthcare system or the liberalisation of the European market for cannabis products, Clifford is at the forefront of all the major market developments. The advice it provided to the German Ministry of Health on the Corona App was just one of this year's highlights."

JUVE presented awards in a total of 18 categories to commercial law firms and in-house teams whose performance over the past year has been particularly dynamic. The winners are chosen based on extensive market research by the JUVE editorial team and over 20,000 individual discussions with clients, competitors and market participants. This year JUVE opted for a virtual awards ceremony which was livestreamed online.

Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance wurde am Donnerstag bei der 17. Verleihung der JUVE Awards vom JUVE Verlag als "Kanzlei des Jahres für Bank- und Finanzrecht" sowie als "Kanzlei des Jahres für Regulierte Industrien" ausgezeichnet. Clifford Chance gewinnt damit als einzige Kanzlei in diesem Jahr gleich zwei der Auszeichnungen und war einmalig unter den Finalisten in insgesamt vier Kategorien nominiert – neben Bank- und Finanzrecht und Regulierte Industrien außerdem in den Kategorien Compliance und Dispute Resolution.
