Clifford Chance becomes the first law firm in Germany to launch an integrated Innovation & Best Delivery Hub

Clifford Chance has become the first commercial law firm in Germany to launch an integrated digitalisation and legal tech centre based at its Frankfurt office. The hub further strengthens the Firm's innovation capacity in Germany. Forming a key element of the Firm’s global strategy, the new "Innovation & Best Delivery Hub" will act as a centralised interdisciplinary innovation hub for all German and international teams. The aim is to use innovative workflow and technology solutions to improve advisory services and interactions with clients.

The aim of the new "Innovation & Best Delivery Hub" is to help develop, test and introduce new ideas and digital products to improve project management for the legal services offered by the Firm. An area of around 100 m² has been set aside specifically for the new hub. It will enable lawyers from all of the Firm's practice areas and industry groups to work together in a whole range of combinations with non-legal staff and colleagues from Knowledge & Information, Legal Tech, Transaction Support and Business Development. The model makes Clifford Chance the first law firm in Germany to have a central integrated digital innovation and collaboration hub on-site in one of its offices.

Dr. Peter Dieners, Clifford Chance Regional Managing Partner Germany: "Digitalisation is changing the rules, for both ourselves and our clients. We don't just want to react to this change - we want to shape it as a leading global legal services firm. Our integrated innovation hub for Germany is part of our global network of similar hubs. It will allow everyone in our Firm, from any practice area or region, to work together on developing and implementing new ideas."

Dr. Sandra Thiel, partner and Head of Innovation at Clifford Chance Germany: "We have created a space for digitalisation and innovation right in the middle of one of our offices. This will create a new level of collaboration and creativity to help improve the legal services we offer. We will continue to strive for best delivery and to develop new ideas by bundling our in-house expertise and by working with selected external partners such as EVANA AG, which specialises in data analysis using AI, or student initiatives such as the Legal Tech Lab at the University of Frankfurt, MLTech in Munich and a team from the University of Osnabruck."

The integrated Frankfurt hub is another extension of the Clifford Chance global innovation strategy, which includes further hubs in Europe, Asia-Pacific and the US. The initiative is part of the Firm's existing global innovation and best delivery concept which is aimed at developing innovative methods, technologies and ways of thinking for legal service provision.

Bas Boris Visser, Global Head of Innovation and Business Change at Clifford Chance: "As a global firm we have placed innovation and a commitment to Best Delivery at the heart of our strategy, it's fundamental to how we create value for our clients. We constantly challenge ourselves to bring the right resources, to deploy the best processes and to leverage advanced technology, informed by the firm's enviable global knowledge and local insights."
