Clifford Chance Prague elects a new Counsel
Following the recent news of the appointment of its new finance partner, the Prague office of Clifford Chance is pleased to announce the promotion of senior corporate associate Petr Zákoucký to the position of Counsel with effect from 1 May 2016. This is a significant achievement and reward for the unwavering dedication Petr has shown to the firm since his arrival in 2006. The status of Counsel has been developed within the firm to recognise excellent contributions by senior lawyers and their potential for partnership.
After having graduated from the Law Faculty of Charles University in 2002 and completed an LL.M. in German Law in 2004 and in European Business Law in 2005 respectively, Petr joined the Prague office of Clifford Chance in March 2006 and was admitted as an advocate in the Czech Republic in 2008. He now leads the Prague office's energy and antitrust practices specialising in Czech, Slovak and EU competition/antitrust law, and in particular merger control, compliance and public procurement issues; although the breadth of his experience spans the energy and natural resources, consumer goods and retail, healthcare and pharmaceutical, and TMT sectors.
An experienced and sought after lawyer for energy and infrastructure project work, Petr is a core member of the office's Corporate and Projects & Energy practices and comes highly recommended both for his increasingly prominent energy and projects activity and his work in the Czech competition market. Admired for being a talented young lawyer, Petr draws praise in the 2016 edition of the legal directory Chambers Europe for his "expertise in the energy sector, covering transactional and project matters on a domestic and cross-border level."
Alex Cook, managing partner of the Prague office, commented: "Petr is an outstanding lawyer, and exactly who we need to help us advance our corporate and energy practices even further. I am very pleased to announce his promotion and it is exciting to watch the team grow, develop and excel."
