Clifford Chance advises Inmarsat on its strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom to deliver in-flight high-speed internet access

International law firm Clifford Chance has advised Inmarsat, the leading provider of global mobile satellite communications services, on its strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom, announced today. The partnership will allow Inmarsat and Deutsche Telekom to deliver the fastest, and most consistent in-flight broadband experience to Europe’s aviation industry and its customers.

Inmarsat and Deutsche Telekom will develop and implement the European Aviation Network, which will use satellite connectivity from a new Inmarsat S-band satellite, seamlessly combined with an LTE-based ground network by Deutsche Telekom.

The connectivity platform developed by Inmarsat and Deutsche Telekom is specifically designed to provide a long-term solution offering speed and coverage to meet the growing needs of passengers travelling across the high-traffic flight paths in Europe.

The cross-border Clifford Chance TMT team advising on this landmark technology project comprised of lawyers from both London and Frankfurt. The team was led by Corporate Partner Jonny Myers, with support from Senior Associate Jonathan Kewley and Associates Mark Sun and Jamie Andrew.
