Clifford Chance advises Clayton, Dubilier & Rice on Patron Capital's £500m sale of Motor Fuel Group

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised US & European private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice (CD&R) on its acquisition of The Motor Fuel Group from Patron Capital for a reported £500m.  The Motor Fuel Group is the largest independent fuel and convenience retailer in Southern England.

Clifford Chance's CD&R relationship partner and former head of the firm's London Corporate practice Simon Tinkler led the team advising on the acquisition, supported by associates Edward Freeman and Joanna Keska.

A separate Clifford Chance team led by Partner Karen Hodson and Senior Associate David Robson advised the consortium of banks who funded the acquisition.

This closely follows Clifford Chance acting for CD&R, and other investors, with the IPO of French electrical, telecoms and technical services group,  Spie,   in  Paris. Earlier this year in March, Clifford Chance also advised CD&R on its sale of British Car Auctions for £1.2billion to Haversham Holdings plc by way of an accelerated IPO.
