Clifford Chance advises Menulog Group on AUD$855 million acquisition by Just Eat

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has advised the shareholders of Menulog Group on its proposed acquisition by Just Eat, the UK-based online takeaway ordering company for a total cash consideration of AUD$855 million (US$680 million). The transaction is subject to regulatory approval from Australia's Foreign Investment Review Board.

Menulog Group is a market leader in the Australian and New Zealand takeaway markets, formed through the merger of two businesses, Menulog and EatNow, in January 2015. Clifford Chance also acted for Menulog on its merger with EatNow.

Lead partner on the deal Lance Sacks said, "We are pleased to continue our commitment to Menulog, in this case utilising our cross-border expertise between our Sydney and London practices. The sale to UK listed Just Eat Group is a strong result for Menulog and reflects their recent growth."

Lance was assisted by associates Angharad Lewis, Terence Kwong, Gabriel Baker and Charles Wehbe, as well as partner Iain Hunter in London, and with advice on competition matters from partner Dave Poddar and associates Mark Grime and Kiran Gill.
