Kathy Honeywood to lead Clifford Chance's Corporate practice in South East Asia

Leading international law firm Clifford Chance has announced that London partner Kathy Honeywood will be relocating to Singapore in May to head the firm's tier one Corporate practice in South East Asia. Kathy specialises in corporate finance, M&A and joint ventures and has significant Asia Pacific experience including two secondments in China and advising on a number of high-profile M&A deals such as Shell on their $2.6 billion disposal of a significant part of their downstream assets in Australia, and Chinalco on their $19.5 billion strategic partnership with Rio Tinto and their proposed acquisition of Las Bambas from Glencore Xstrata.

Kathy will replace Simon Clinton who will be relocating to London later this year. In London, Simon will continue working with Asia Pacific clients, leveraging off his 15 years of experience in the region, leading the Firm's sovereign wealth sector team, as well as leading and supporting client relationships across the Firm.

Singapore Managing Partner Geraint Hughes said, "We are delighted to welcome Kathy back to the region. She is one of the most well respected practitioners globally in her field, and her breadth of experience combined with her leadership skills make her ideally suited to head our growing practice."

Kathy said, "I am delighted to be heading up our Corporate practice in South East Asia and to be working with our team to continue to grow and build on our market leading position. This is an exciting time to be working with our clients in the region and beyond."

Singapore regularly advises clients on a wide variety of corporate M&A transactions in South East Asia including, most recently, Mondelēz on its proposed acquisition of 80% stake in Vietnamese snack company for US$370 million and Sime Darby on its US$1.74 billion cash offer for New Britain Palm Oil Limited.

These moves reflect the Firm's strategy of delivering the highest levels of expertise and service to clients, including through partner mobility to maintain a balanced spread of experience across different offices and practice areas.
