Clifford Chance advises USS on £392m investment in Heathrow Airport Holdings Limited

International law firm Clifford Chance has advised the Universities Superannuation Scheme Limited (“USS”) on its £392 million acquisition from Ferrovial of an 8.65% stake in airport operator Heathrow Airport Holdings, formerly known as BAA.

USS is one of the largest pension schemes in the United Kingdom, representing academic and related staff in the higher education sector. The investment is USS' largest investment in UK infrastructure to date.

The deal demonstrates Clifford Chance's expertise in the infrastructure sector. Earlier this year, Clifford Chance was crowned European Infrastructure Law Firm of the Year for the third year in a row, in PEI Infrastructure Investor's 2012 Annual Awards for Excellence.

The Clifford Chance team was led by Brendan Moylan, corporate partner and head of infrastructure M&A, and corporate associates Martin Kolmar and Ying Yi Soh. Regulatory advice was provided by antitrust partner Jenine Hulsmann.
