Clifford Chance holds its fifth annual CEE finance conference in Vienna

Last week Clifford Chance welcomed representatives from banks, financial institutions, investors and corporate clients at the recently opened Palais Hansen Kempinski hotel in Vienna. The conference, attended by around 100 professionals, featured two panel discussions from a pan-regional delegation of senior specialists drawn from 8 different offices of the Firm on topics of current business importance for invited guests, followed by an evening reception.

As well as providing market updates on several jurisdictions within the region, panellists also focused on alternative forms of funding and refinancing, including the bonds and derivatives market, credit insurance and the industry sectors that present the best opportunities for investment.

Loren Richards (Frankfurt) opened the evening and chaired the first panel, which focused on product and sector developments in the region and included Martin Glajch (Prague), Andrzej Stosio (Warsaw), Vladimir Barbolin (Moscow), Gözde Çankaya (Istanbul) and Logan Wright (Moscow).

The second panel chaired by Alistair McGillivray (London) focused on methods of distributing risk and included Matthew Grigg (London), Leonard Cleland (London), Andreea Sisman (Bucharest) and Tanja Svetina (Milan).

The lively reception following the conference allowed our guests, panellists and other Clifford Chance attendees active in CEE the opportunity to network and engage on topics of interest across the whole region. Clients particularly commented on the combined impact of the high quality of the panels and the depth of coverage we brought together.

Now in its fifth year the format demonstrates our commitment, ambition and ability to deliver the Firm to our clients and for the benefit of their business. The event is firmly established within the calendars of clients operating in the region and has become an important regional gathering. This year saw a greater participation of clients and partners from the SEE region, not least following the event we held in Zagreb in June to coincide with Croatia's EU accession (see link).

An audio recording and collected materials from the conference are available upon request. For more information please contact the Events team.
