Clifford Chance holds its fourth-annual CEE finance conference in Vienna

Representatives from banks, investors and corporate clients came together in Vienna recently to hear from a pan-regional delegation of senior specialists from the Firm.

The evening featured two panel discussions on topics of current business importance for invited guests, followed by a reception.

Reinforcing messages from other Firm initiatives, the panels focused on the continuing impact of the Eurozone crisis on institutions and transactions in the region, new players and the rise of shadow banking as well as the latest geographic, product and sector trends - and challenges - including competition from the East.

Dr George Hacket (Frankfurt) opened the evening, comprising two panels followed by a reception. Loren Richards (Frankfurt) chaired the first panel, which focussed on the impact of regulatory evolution in and affecting the region and included Dr Marc Benzler (Frankfurt), Victoria Bortkevicha (Moscow), Martin Glajch (Prague), Dr Stefan Sax (Frankfurt), Ilomai Kurrik (London) and Mete Yegin (Istanbul).

Jim MacHale (London) chaired the second panel, which focussed on product and sector developments and included Dmytro Fedoruk (Kyiv), Matthew Grigg (London), Kevin-Paul Deveau (Bucharest), Andrzej Stosio (Warsaw), Loren Richards (Frankfurt) and Logan Wright (Moscow).

Our guests, panellists and other CC attendees active in the CEE region then enjoyed lively conversation into the small hours at the reception afterwards.

The event has established itself within the annual "events calendar" of market participants in Vienna and has become an important regional platform, providing a very tangible demonstration of our desire to deliver the collective capabilities of the Firm as an important part of our ambition constantly to provide the very best service to our clients.
