Clifford Chance advises Versatel on acquisition of KielNET
Clifford Chance advised Versatel AG, Berlin, on the acquisition of 100% of the shares in local telecommunications provider KielNET GmbH Gesellschaft für Kommunikation. Stadtwerke Kiel and freenet Cityline GmbH sold a 50% stake each. In the framework of the transaction, Versatel and Stadtwerke Kiel also agreed on a long-term infrastructure cooperation. The transaction is subject to approval from the relevant antitrust authority.
KielNET offers telecommunications services for private and business customers as well as the required hardware and software in the broader Kiel region.
The acquisition of KielNET complements Versatel AG's presence in the federal state of Schleswig-Holstein. Versatel is one of the leading suppliers of voice, internet and data services in the German market. In the 2011 financial year, the group generated a turnover of approx. EUR 631 million.

Clifford Chance berät Versatel bei der Übernahme von KielNET
Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat die Versatel AG, Berlin, bei der Übernahme von 100 Prozent der Anteile an dem lokalen Telekommunikationsanbieter KielNET GmbH Gesellschaft für Kommunikation beraten. Jeweils 50 Prozent der Anteile veräußern die Stadtwerke Kiel und die freenet Cityline GmbH. Versatel und die Stadtwerke Kiel haben im Zuge der Transaktion eine langfristige Infrastrukturkooperation vereinbart. Die Transaktion erfolgt vorbehaltlich der Zustimmung durch die Kartellbehörde.
KielNET bietet Telekommunikationsdienstleistungen für Privat- und Geschäftskunden und entsprechende Hard- und Softwarelösungen im Großraum Kiel.
Mit dem Erwerb von KielNET vervollständigt die Versatel AG ihre Präsenz in Schleswig-Holstein. Versatel gehört zu den führenden Anbietern von Sprach-, Internet- und Datendiensten auf dem deutschen Markt. Im Geschäftsjahr 2011 erzielte der Konzern einen Umsatz von rund 631 Millionen Euro.
