Clifford Chance advises Yaskawa Europe on the acquisition of the majority of the shares in Robotic Systems
Clifford Chance advised Yaskawa Europe GmbH on the acquisition of the majority of the shares in Robotic Systems S.A. Pty Ltd., with headquarters located in Johannesburg. The enterprise will, in future, operate under the name Yaskawa Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. The parties have agreed to keep the purchase price confidential.
Yaskawa and Robotic have worked together in South Africa on the basis of a partnership since 1991. With more than 1,000 installed industrial robots Robotic Systems is the market leader in this segment in South Africa.
Yaskawa Europe, a subsidiary of the Japanese Yaskawa Corp., is one of the world's leading manufacturers of industrial robots and drive technology products and offers industry-related automation solutions. Having 30 offices and five production sites, the company with its registered office in Eschborn near Frankfurt employs approximately 1,000 employees.
The Clifford Chance team comprised partner Dr. Bernd Meyer-Witting, counsel Dr. Leif U. Schrader and associate Dr. Robert John (all Corporate, Frankfurt).

Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat Yaskawa Europe GmbH beim Erwerb der Mehrheit der Anteile an der südafrikanischen Robotic Systems S.A. Pty Ltd., Johannesburg, beraten. Das Unternehmen wird künftig unter Yaskawa Southern Africa (Pty) Ltd. firmieren. Über den Kaufpreis haben die Parteien Stillschweigen vereinbart.
Yaskawa und Robotic Systems haben bereits seit 1991 im Rahmen einer Partnerschaft in Südafrika kooperiert. Robotic Systems ist mit mehr als 1.000 installierten Industrierobotern der Marktführer in diesem Segment in Südafrika.
Yaskawa Europe, Tochter der japanischen Yaskawa Corp., ist ein weltweit führender Hersteller für Industrieroboter und im Bereich elektronischer Antriebstechnik und bietet branchenbezogene Automatisierungslösungen. Das Unternehmen mit Hauptsitz in Eschborn bei Frankfurt am Main beschäftigt europaweit rund 1.000 Mitarbeiter in 30 Büros und fünf Produktionsstätten.
