Clifford Chance advises on the financing of the EnBW Baltic 1 offshore wind farm
Clifford Chance advised EnBW Baltic 1 GmbH & Co. KG, a joint project company of EnBW and 19 municipal utility companies predominantly located in Baden-Württemberg, on the financing of the EnBW Baltic 1 offshore wind farm. The banking syndicate comprised of the European Investment Bank, KfW-IPEX Bank GmbH, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg and NIBC Bank N.V. granted a loan amounting to EUR 138 million in total with a term of 14 years.
Officially commissioned in May 2011, EnBW Baltic 1 is Germany's first commercially operated offshore wind farm. The offshore wind farm which lies 16 km off the coast north of the Darß/Zingst peninsula in the Baltic Sea, comprises of 21 wind turbines generating a peak capacity of approx. 50 megawatts. It generates 185 gigawatt hours annually amounting to the electricity needs of approx. 50,000 households. The offshore wind farm is operated by EnBW Erneuerbare Energien GmbH.

Clifford Chance berät bei Finanzierung des Offshore Wind-parks EnBW Baltic I
Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat die EnBW Baltic 1 GmbH & Co. KG, eine gemeinsame Projektgesellschaft von EnBW und 19 vorwiegend baden-württembergischen Stadtwerken, bei der Finanzierung des Offshore Windparks EnBW Baltic 1 beraten. Der Gesamtkreditbetrag beläuft sich auf 138 Millionen Euro und hat eine Laufzeit von 14 Jahren. Die Finanzierung wird von der Europäischen Investitionsbank, der KfW-IPEX Bank GmbH, der Landesbank Baden-Württemberg und der NIBC Bank N.V. bereitgestellt.
Als erster kommerzieller Offshore-Windpark Deutschlands wurde EnBW Baltic 1 von der EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG bereits im Mai 2011 in Betrieb genommen. Der in der Ostsee, 16 Kilometer nördlich der Halbinsel Darß/Zingst gelegene Windpark umfasst 21 Windkraftanlagen mit einer Gesamtleistung von rund 50 Megawatt. Mit einer Jahresleistung von 185 Gigawattstunden kann der Windpark Strom für rund 50.000 Haushalte erzeugen. Betrieben wird der Windpark von der EnBW Erneuerbare Energien GmbH.
