Clifford Chance advises banks on more than €2 billion financing of a joint venture of Deutsche Telekom and IFM Global Infrastructure Fund for the expansion of German fibre optic network
Clifford Chance has advised the consortium of underwriters comprising BNP Paribas S.A., UniCredit Bank AG, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, National Westminster Bank and NatWest Markets on the structuring of the more than €2 billion financing of a joint venture of Deutsche Telekom and IFM Global Infrastructure Fund (IFM). The joint venture operates as GlasfaserPlus GmbH and is expected to contribute to the accelerated expansion of the fibre optic network of Deutsche Telekom.
As already announced in November 2021, IFM will hold a 50 percent stake in GlasfaserPlus. The resulting joint venture aims at creating additional four million gigabit-capable FTTH (Fibre to the Home)-connections in rural and developing areas until 2028. This expansion is planned in addition to the already communicated aim of Deutsche Telekom to connect 10 million households in total until 2024.

Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat die Underwriter bestehend aus BNP Paribas S.A., UniCredit Bank AG, Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, Crédit Agricole Corporate and Investment Bank, National Westminster Bank und NatWest Markets bei der Strukturierung der mehr als €2-Milliarden-Finanzierung des Joint Ventures bestehend aus Deutsche Telekom und IFM Global Infrastructure Fund (IFM) beraten. Das Joint Venture firmiert unter dem Namen GlasfaserPlus GmbH und soll ab diesem Jahr einen zusätzlichen Beitrag zum beschleunigten Ausbau des Glasfasernetzes der Deutschen Telekom leisten.
Bereits im November 2021 wurde bekannt, dass sich IFM mit 50 Prozent an GlasfaserPlus beteiligt. Das daraus entstehende Joint Venture soll bis 2028 vier Millionen zusätzliche gigabitfähige FTTH-Anschlüsse (Fibre to the Home) im ländlichen Raum und in Fördergebieten ausbauen. Dieser Ausbau ist zusätzlich geplant zu dem von der Deutschen Telekom bereits kommunizierten Ziel, bis 2024 insgesamt 10 Millionen Haushalte anzubinden.
