Clifford Chance advises Marsa Maroc on its Joint Venture with CMA CGM for the Western Container Terminal at Nador West Med
Clifford Chance is advising Marsa Maroc on its joint venture with CMA Terminals, a subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, for the development and management of the Western Container Terminal at Nador West Med Port, a key strategic port on Morocco’s Mediterranean coastline.
Upon completion of the transaction, and pending approval from the relevant authorities, Marsa Maroc will hold 51% of the share capital and voting rights of the concession company, while CMA Terminals will hold 49%.
Gradually coming into service starting from 2027, the terminal will offer an annual handling capacity of 1.8 million TEUs, positioning itself as a major transshipment hub in the Mediterranean and reinforcing Morocco’s integration into global maritime trade routes.
The Clifford Chance team advising on the transaction is led by Frederic Giancarli (Partner), assisted by Aolaia Snaïba (Associate) and Nihad Agadazi (Associate).

Clifford Chance conseille Marsa Maroc dans le cadre de sa joint-venture avec CMA Terminals, filiale du Groupe CMA CGM, pour le développement et la gestion du Terminal à Conteneurs Ouest du port Nador West Med, grand port stratégique de la façade méditerranéenne du Maroc.
A l’issue de l’opération, et sous réserve de l’approbation des autorités compétentes, Marsa Maroc détiendra 51 % du capital et des droits de vote de la société concessionnaire, tandis que CMA Terminals en détiendra 49 %.
Progressivement opérationnel à partir de 2027, le terminal offrira une capacité annuelle de 1,8 million d’EVP et deviendra un hub de transbordement majeur en Méditerranée, soutenant l'intégration du Maroc dans les grandes routes maritimes mondiales.
