Clifford Chance advises FARCO-PHARMA on acquisition of Purenum
Clifford Chance has advised FARCO-PHARMA GmbH on its acquisition of Purenum GmbH. Purenum is being sold by all its existing shareholders, including a number of VC firms.
Purenum is a spin-off from the Fraunhofer Institute for Manufacturing Technology and Advanced Materials IFAM in Bremen and has developed an innovative hydrogel system known as mediNiK® for removing kidney stone fragments. The dual component gel encapsulates even the smallest of fragments and allows them to be removed using an endoscope.
FARCO-PHARMA is a leading developer and supplier of medical gels primarily used in urology, gynaecology, proctology, gastroenterology and anaesthesiology settings. It is part of Klosterfrau Healthcare Group, which employs more than 1,700 people across 17 sites and offers a range of more than 220 products.

Die internationale Anwaltssozietät Clifford Chance hat die FARCO-PHARMA GmbH beim Erwerb der Purenum GmbH beraten. Verkäufer sind sämtliche bisherigen Purenum-Gesellschafter, darunter verschiedene Venture Capital-Gesellschaften.
Purenum ist ein Spin-off aus dem Fraunhofer-Institut für Fertigungstechnik und Angewandte Materialforschung IFAM in Bremen und hat mit mediNiK® ein innovatives Hydrogel-System zur Entfernung von Nierensteinfragmenten entwickelt. Das Zwei-Komponenten-Gel umschließt selbst kleinste Nierensteinbruchstücke, die anschließend effektiv endoskopisch entfernt werden können.
FARCO-PHARMA ist ein führender Entwickler und Anbieter von medizinischen Gelen, die insbesondere in der Urologie, Gynäkologie, Proktologie, Gastroenterologie und Anästhesiologie verwendet werden.
