Clifford Chance advises Iberdrola on Swedish offshore wind partnership

Clifford Chance has advised Iberdrola on its partnership with Svea Vind Offshore AB, which will enable Iberdrola to take a majority stake in up to 9GW of offshore wind projects in Sweden.

The offshore wind projects are in various stages of development and are expected to begin operations from 2029 onwards. The first of these projects, Utposten I, is in the advanced stages of obtaining environmental permits.

This transaction marks the fifth significant advance in renewables for Iberdrola during the current Covid-19 crisis.

The Clifford Chance team included Private Equity/M&A lawyers Nicholas Hughes, Graham Phillips and Jo En Low, alongside Energy/Infrastructure lawyers James Pay and Gordon Stewart. Jörgen Möller led the Cirio team that advised on Swedish law aspects of the transaction.
