Clifford Chance appoints Jared Grubb as Istanbul Office Managing Partner
International law firm Clifford Chance today announces that Jared Grubb has been appointed as Istanbul Office Managing Partner. He takes over from the office's founding managing partner Simon Williams who is, after five years, returning to London to focus on client work.
Grubb, who was previously Kyiv Office Managing Partner for Clifford Chance, comments: "I am delighted to be joining the office and look forward to working with colleagues as we continue to build our presence in Turkey and the wider region. This is an important market for our clients, and our ability to deliver international and local advice seamlessly gives us the best platform to advise clients on their most important projects in the region."

Established in 2011, Clifford Chance's Istanbul office has built a strong presence in the market, and is considered a leading firm for energy, infrastructure, privatisation, banking and capital markets work in the region. The firm operates under a consultancy arrangement to deliver local law advice with Turkish law firm Yegin Çiftçi Attorney Partnership and has been involved in almost every major infrastructure, energy and leveraged finance transaction in the market for both domestic and international clients.

- Bilkent PPP: Advising the lenders on the largest healthcare complex in Europe and the first largest healthcare campus constructed under a single contract in the world. Winner of Turkish deal of the year award, PFI Awards 2015 and Best Infrastructure Finance Deal of the Year; Best Syndicated Loan Deal of the Year; Best Project Finance Deal of the Year at Bonds and Loans Turkey 2015.
- Kazan Soda Elektrik Uretim: Advised ICBC, CEXIM and Deutsche Bank in connection with the approx US$ 1.1 billion financing of Kazan Soda ash-cogeneration plant (with 450MW Natural Gas Fired Cogeneration Plant) in Turkey (export credit financing). TFR Award Winner of ECA Deals of the Year 2014.
- Tufanbeyli Project: Advising Société Générale as Co-ordinating Mandated Lead Arranger, Structuring Bank and Bookrunner on the signing of a EUR 142 million commercial loan facility and a EUR 608 million loan facility backed by the Korea Trade Insurance Corporation (KSure) to finance the development and construction of a 450 megawatt lignite-fired power plant and associated lignite mine and limestone quarries. Winner of Turkish Power Deal of the Year, PFI Awards 2012.
- QNB Group acquisition: Advising QNB Group in EUR 2.7 billion acquisition of National Bank of Greece's majority stake in Finansbank and its subsidiaries.
- Koç Holding bond offering: Advising Koç Holding A.Ş., the largest conglomerate in Turkey, on its debut USD 750 million Rule 144A/Regulation S bond offering.
- International Finance Corporation: Advised IFC, part of the World Bank Group, in connection with its acquisition of a 27% stake in Gama Enerji – the IFC's first infrastructure investment in Turkey and one of its largest globally.
