Clifford Chance advises EVRY on a billion-dollar outsourcing agreement with IBM

Leading Nordic IT services company EVRY signed a 10-year, billion-dollar agreement with IBM to manage the IT infrastructure that supports EVRY’s operations in Norway and Sweden.

The agreement includes the transformation of EVRY's existing infrastructure to a partially cloud-based IBM infrastructure with further standardization of the existing IT landscape, with IBM providing fully managed infrastructure services ranging from mainframe to midrange. The agreement will enable EVRY to realize considerable cost savings and allow EVRY's Nordic customers to benefit from a faster time-to-market through cost-efficient, leading-edge infrastructure solutions.

A remarkable element of this partnership is that both companies are IT services companies, making it an unconventional marriage in the outsourcing space. EVRY will maintain responsibility for managing its customer relationships and delivering services to its customers, and lead the development of value-added solutions and services, combining its strong local knowledge with the use of IBM's cloud technology and global scale.

The Clifford Chance team that advised EVRY on this matter consisted of André Duminy (lead; London), Jaap Tempelman (Amsterdam), James Plummer (London) and Liesbeth Snoeijer (Amsterdam).

Jan Sandtro, General Counsel of the EVRY Group, had the following to say about the Clifford Chance team that worked with EVRY to conclude the transaction in record time: "The effort that the Clifford Chance team put in, and quality of work they produced, was extraordinary and really helped us achieve our objectives. It was a real pleasure to partner with them on this deal."
