Leading finance partner, Richard Gordon to join Clifford Chance in Sydney
Leading international law firm Clifford Chance is strengthening its Finance practice with the addition of partner Richard Gordon on 1 September. Richard is a market leading practitioner and has extensive experience in a broad range of transactions across Australia including acquisition finance, project and infrastructure finance, real estate finance and funds.
"Richard is an excellent addition to our team. Not only does he have wide general banking and finance expertise, but he also has excellent experience in projects and infrastructure. His skills complement our Australian and wider Asia Pacific teams very well and will greatly enhance our offering to clients," said Mark Pistilli, Clifford Chance's Managing Partner in Sydney.
Richard will work closely with partner Caroline Jury, Head of Finance in Sydney, as well as focus on project and infrastructure work with partners Philip Sealey in Perth and Nicholas Wong, Global Co-head of the Worldwide Projects Group, in Singapore. "Richard will significantly strengthen our domestic expertise as well as complement our strong international offering," said Caroline.
Peter Charlton, Regional Managing Partner said, "We are delighted to welcome such a well-regarded practitioner to our Australian practice. This is our second lateral partner in Australia this year in line with our stated strategy of measured growth. This hire shows our commitment to the market, to our Australian clients, and to our international clients that are involved in an increasing number of Australian-related matters."
The Finance team has recently advised on high profile deals such as the financing of the acquisition by an international sponsor of I-MED Network Radiology, one of the world's largest networks of medical imaging clinics, acting for the National Australia Bank and a syndicate of Australian and international lenders on a US$560 million metals borrowing base facility for an international commodity house and acting for ANZ, EKF and international and Philippine lenders on the 150MW Burgos Wind Project (winner of five 2014 Deal of the Year awards).
In May, the Perth office welcomed litigation partner Jenni Hill.
