Sydney lawyer selected for One Young World Summit 2013

Joins 1,300 delegates from 190 countries for Johannesburg summit of young leaders

Sydney:  Clifford Chance senior associate Rosslyn Warren has been selected as one of the firm's global delegates to One Young World 2013 – dubbed "junior Davos" – which starts today in Johannesburg.

Rosslyn, a litigation senior associate in the firm's Sydney office, joins 1,300 young leaders from more than 190 countries in Johannesburg for a four-day forum, with speakers including Sir Bob Geldof, Sir Richard Branson, Kofi Annan, Jamie Oliver, Boris Becker and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Professor Mohammad Yunus.

To date, almost four million people have been directly impacted by the work of One Young World Ambassadors through more than 130 projects and initiatives generated by the event, involving in excess of 100 countries.

Rosslyn won Clifford Chance's "global office champion" award in 2012 for her encouragement of corporate social responsibility activities in the firm's Sydney office. She joins three other Clifford Chance delegates at the forum – Teresa Cid (Madrid), Nakisa Jobling (Hong Kong) and Lavanya Raghavan (London).

"We're delighted that Rosslyn's commitment to corporate social responsibility here in Sydney has resulted in this once-in-a-lifetime introduction to some of the world's great leaders and entrepreneurs – and the chance to network with the next generation of leaders," said Mark Pistilli, managing partner of Clifford Chance in Sydney.

"This is the type of opportunity that being part of the global Clifford Chance network opens up to our young lawyers, and allows us to develop and reward our talent in new and exciting ways."

Many of the Clifford Chance's major global clients, led by Barclays and including Aviva, Credit Suisse, Shell, Siemens, Santander, Allianz, Volkswagen and Standard Chartered, will also send delegates.

"One Young World provides an excellent platform for Clifford Chance to engage with our clients on the corporate responsibility, leadership and strategic issues that matter to them," said the firm's senior partner Malcolm Sweeting.  "Developing the firm's people and positioning our young talent as thought leaders around these issues on a global stage is also key to our strategy for continued growth and success.

"Congratulations to Nakisa, Teresa, Lavanya and Rosslyn whose contributions to the firm's business development projects, CR initiatives, their involvement with charitable, community and youth leadership projects, and global outlook will make them excellent ambassadors for the firm at this year's summit."
